Historical Society - Celebrity Sound Man
The program speaker at the Historical Society's meeting will be Sid Pierce, a sound engineer with over 40 years experience working for some of the biggest names in the music industry. The meeting will be held at the Donald W. Reynolds Library. Sid Pierce's book "Roadie...from the Tour Bus to the School Bus" discusses life on tour with numerous Country Music Hall of Fame inductees including Glenn Campbell, Waylon Jennings, and Minnie Pearl. Also, he toured with several Rock & Roll Hall of Fame members including the Beach Boys, Carl Perkins, Greg Allman, and Ray Charles. He toured exclusively with Roy Clark, including his Friendship Tour of the Soviet Union in 1976.
Sid Pierce grew up in nearby Ozark County, Missouri. As a teenager, he started playing music in local groups at various venues. While working at Baxter Lab, he answered an advertisement in a music magazine for a soundman. This began a remarkable career, and he has great stories to share.
